PRISTINA, Kosovo — Israel coach Alon Hazan needs his staff to beat Kosovo of their delayed European Championship qualifying recreation on Sunday to deliver “some happiness to our individuals.”
It’s the first soccer match for Israel because the Oct. 7 assault by Hamas and the continuing warfare in Gaza. It had initially been scheduled for Oct. 15 however was postponed.
The Group I match in Pristina is being held beneath tight safety measures surrounding the Israeli staff.
Hazan and captain Eli Dasa stated the staff felt secure.
“We’ll do something we are able to to be able to win this match … deliver some happiness to our individuals,” Hazan stated Saturday.
Israel is third in its group with 11 factors after six video games. Romania leads with 16 factors (eight video games) and second-place Switzerland has 15 factors (seven video games).
