A SWAT officer was shot and killed and one other officer was injured, after an early morning taking pictures in Austin, Texas, the mayor’s workplace mentioned Saturday.
The suspect was shot and killed on the scene in South Austin, in line with the mayor’s workplace.
The injured officer is in surgical procedure.
“My coronary heart and the hearts of Austinites are damaged this morning. It is a horrible second for our metropolis and those that shield us,” Mayor Kirk Watson mentioned in an announcement. “I’m praying for the household of our fallen officer, for our officer who was shot and in surgical procedure and his household.”
That is the primary time in a decade that an officer from the Austin Police Division has been killed within the line of obligation, in line with ABC affiliate KVUE in Austin.
