A highschool in South Dakota has eliminated unloaded weapons from a Nationwide Guard Veterans Day show and a recruitment stand over the “potential to trigger a panic.”

On Thursday, the Nationwide Guard hosted a recruiting sales space throughout lunch durations for college students at Speedy Metropolis Central Excessive Faculty (RCAS). Unloaded firearms belonging to the Nationwide Guard have been additionally on college grounds on the sales space.

In a press release to Fox Information Digital, RCAS Superintendent Nicole Swigart stated that college students have been allowed to carry and take photos of the unloaded weapons that have been part of the show.

“RCAS could be very involved that these pictures have the potential to trigger a panic,” Swigart stated.

The highschool superintendent stated that state legislation prevents firearms on college property, apart from by legislation enforcement.

“Since studying that this occurred, I’ve been involved with the varsity management, legislation enforcement, and Nationwide Guard leaders,” Swigart stated. “We’re all in settlement that this was not one thing we really feel is appropriate in a college setting.”
